Video transcript
My name is Alexa. I'm a legal assistant in a law firm located in Calgary, Alberta.
It was always a dream for me to move out of Mexico and look for better opportunities.
I decided to come to Canada as an international student to open my possibility to emigrate as a permanent resident with my husband and my two year old son.
It was a difficult transition at the beginning just to adapt to our new lifestyle.
Finding a job in Canada was one of the most challenging things to do but I got the resources that I need from the school Bow Valley College.
As a legal assistant, there are other opportunities to grow your career. You can also work as a legal clerk, as a due diligence coordinator. You can also work as a paralegal in bigger law firms.
I would like to attend law school in a couple years and become a lawyer or a Crown prosecutor.
It took so much work to get where we are right now.
I am definitely proud of myself of what I've achieved as a professional and as a woman.
